Moving in with Mom and Dad: Multigenerational Households

We talk frequently about moving mom or dad in with us, but it works the other way too.  "In Nevada, for example, an area hit very hard by home foreclosures, multi-generational families increased 72% from 2000 to 2010, the highest growth rate by far of any state (Metlife Mature Market Institute, 2010)."

Metlife Mature Market is one of my favorite resources for obtaining current research studies and articles on aging.  This article discusses the trends of multigenerational households in America.

Emily Abel to present at INDATA Quarterly Training on Dementia/Alzheimer's and Assistive Technology

Hello,

I will be presenting Gerontechnology to assist people with dementia and first stage Alzheimer's and their caregivers during the INDATA (Indiana Assistive Technology Act) Quarterly Training to be held on Friday, April 20, 2012 in Indianapolis, Indiana.  If you cannot attend in person, but have internet access you can also join us for this training.

Easter Seals Crossroads operates the INDiana Assistive Technology Act Project, otherwise known as the INDATA Project. The purpose of the INDATA project is two-fold. The first is to get assistive technology into the hands of Hoosiers with disabilities through device demonstrations, device loans, computer recycling and alternative financing. The second goal is to provide statewide outreach educational opportunities regarding assistive technology capabilities, options and resources. To learn more about the free services of the INDATA project, go to http://www.eastersealstech.com/.

This is a free event, but registration is required. To learn more about this event and/or to register click on the following link:
